Uncapped ADSL

When one ADSL user is downloading a lot of data we don’t think other users should have to experience slow speeds when performing other online activities that use less data, whether they're browsing, emailing, watching videos on YouTube or Skyping friends and family overseas.

This is why we continually monitor our network between the busiest times (6am – 12am) and prioritise accordingly to make sure one ADSL user isn’t negatively affecting another user‘s service. Outside of these hours (12am – 6am) things quieten down and we don’t need to prioritise as extra capacity is available on our network.

If a user does download a lot of data when the network is congested, we estimate their ADSL speeds to change as follows, depending on network traffic:

• 50% of normal speed during business hours
• 80% of normal speed between 5pm and 10pm
• 100% of normal speed between 10pm and 7am, including the whole weekend

Please note that these estimates refer to a normal home ADSL user, typically engaged in regular usage patterns including normal browsing, emailing, watching videos and some downloading. Sustained downloading will result in slower ADSL speeds than those listed above.

Our AUP is freely available and we encourage our users to familiarise themselves with it. It’s fair and simple, and we don’t beat around the bush- we’re transparent and understand that there’s nothing worse than getting slow ADSL speeds with no warning.
