No Trouble With Teamspeak 3.

We’ve noticed that some WAGE gamers on our forums are having trouble with Teamspeak 3. While we believe that this might be the first sign of the robot apocalypse and that machines are finally taking over the world, we’ve decided to arm you with some knowledge so you can fight back and get Teamspeak 3 to do your bidding. [...]
The WAGE Public TS3 server address is: chat.wage.co.za:9987
Right, first things first, you’ll need to get the Teamspeak 3 client. You can download it from their official website or from our FTP server. Make sure you grab the right client for your operating system e.g. Windows 32-bit or 62-bit, Linux or Mac OS X. If you’re unsure about choosing 32-bit or 64-bit for Windows, don’t stress, the 32-bit version works fine on the 64-bit version of Windows.

Teamspeak 3 Initial Setup:
When you run Teamspeak 3 for the first time you’ll be greeted by the Setup Wizard. He won’t have a beard, and he won’t be wearing a hat, but trust him and follow his lead.

Press Next and you’ll get to choose your Teamspeak 3 name. You can change this at a later stage and it doesn’t determine your unique identification.

Next you’ll be asked how you’d like to activate speaking in Teamspeak 3.
You can choose Push-to-talk or Voice Activation. Push-to-talk activates speaking through a key on your keyboard or mouse. Remember to bind a key to Push-to-talk. Voice Activation transmits your voice when you begin to speak.

You’ll now be asked to set your preferred speaking level (and voice pick up sensitivity if you’re using Voice Activation). This helps to determine at what level your microphone will detect your voice and at what level it should transmit at.

On the next screen you’ll be asked to bind keys for muting your microphone and headset. This helps when you’re having a private conversation and you don’t want the rest of the internet to hear. Bind the buttons to your mouse or keyboard as you desire.

The next window confirms the end of your journey with the Setup Wizard.

You’ll find yourself back at the Teamspeak 3 main screen. From here you can quick-connect to the WAGE TS3 server, and later on, add the WAGE TS3 server to your address book as well as other favourites you come across.

The Connect option will ask you for the nickname you want to use. You set this up earlier with the help of the Setup Wizard but if you’d like to change the settings you can do it here. You’ll also be asked for the Teamspeak 3 server you’d like to connect to along with the port number and password.

The example above features a connection to chat.wage.co.za with the port 9987 and a nickname. The nickname here is cosmetic and doesn’t represent your unique identity on the server so your friends will still be able to recognise you.
The Server Password will let you log on to a server requiring a password. The WAGE TS3 server is public and won’t need a password.
Please don’t put your own secret password into the field. Teamspeak 3 uses a unique generated key-pair certificate authentication system to determine who you are. This identifies you for security and advanced functions.
If the process has been completed correctly you’ll be greeted with the main screen and be rather unceremoniously dumped into the Landing Zone:

The Landing Zone on the WAGE TS3 server has been muted to all participants. This prevents random discussions and ranting from bothering other gamers. You can navigate to a channel of your choice using the dropdown list on the left. Just double click the channel you’d like to connect to.
If the channel is password protected you’ll need to communicate with the owners of the clan channel and get a password. WAGE admins don’t have access to these passwords and won’t move you on to one without a compelling reason.

That brings us to the end of the Teamspeak 3 tutorial. We hope it helps!
Please note that we’ve always got a couple of WAGE admins online during the day. They will be more than happy to show you the ropes if you’re new. They’ll also be able to help you create a custom private channel and fix problems involving other channels. They’ll be designated within the prefix [WAGE] and will have a shining “S” on the shield next to their names.

You’ll find the WAGE admins in the Admin assistance section on standby.
Here are some General House rules to make sure your WAGE experience runs smoothly:
WAGE is a public server and service. Unless you’re in a private channel that requires a password please watch your language. Threats, harassment, foul language and soliciting will not be tolerated.
The WAGE admin’s word is final. They’ll help you out with any issues you’re experiencing, but if there’s a problem with your behaviour and attitude towards others, they’ll issue you a brief warning. Failing to heed this warning will result in a temporary ban.
