Movember is the official annual month-long moustache growing charity event.

Movember as an idea was born several years ago in Australia.  Since then it’s grown into a popular international event and now takes place in six official countries.  South Africa is one of these.

Participants in Movember are known as Mo Bros and Mo Sistas.  Mo Bros are urged to grow moustaches during the month of November to help raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues.

These issues include prostate and testicular cancer and depression.  Movember also urges men to perform routine examinations on their bodies and to go for Prostate Specific Antigen blood tests.

It’s a fun and innovative approach to bringing attention to a serious and worthy cause.

So what does this have to do with Web Africa?

We’re holding a competition through Facebook to show our support for Movember and CANSA.

How to enter:

1. Register yourself on the official CANSA Movember site.
2. Join the Web Africa Facebook Community.
3. Post photo’s of yourself supporting Movember on our wall by the 27th of November, final entries by the 1st of December.
4. Every entry before the 27th of November donates R5 to CANSA and you also stand the chance to win the latest 6^th generation iPod Nano.
5. The competition closes at 12:00pm on the 1st of December.
6. Top 5 finalists will be selected by our judges and will be voted for by you.
7. The final winner with the most votes will be announced at 12:00pm on Friday the 3^rd December.

The winner will be judged on the following criteria:

• Moustache size and thickness.
• Grooming and styling.
• Awareness for Movember created online.
• How innovative and imaginative* their moustache is.

The winner of our Movember Facebook competition gets a brand new 6^th generation iPod Nano with Multi-Touch.  The iPod Nano holds up to 8GB of music, can access FM radio, and plays audio books and pod casts.
