If you are looking for a domain – WHOIS lookup can tell you if it’s already taken and provide contact information of the domain owner.

WHOIS domain information can help you determine the proper contact for any domain listed in the Whois database.  But some types of domains will not show all information (or will not show any information at all) from WHOIS utilities used outside the Registry’s website.

This tool provides valuable domain information such as domain registrar, status, expiration date, and DNS name servers. Data miners often crawl WHOIS records to gain personal information. Then they sell it to marketing firms and advertising agencies, leading to spam and junk mail.

There’s a multitude of WHOIS tools out there, for example:

Co.za: for all your co.za domains.

Whois.net: to look all international domains.

Here’s an example of what you would see on WhoIs:

Here’s a million rand question: Is your personal information protected on WhoIs?

Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Taking the time and actual effort
to create a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot
and don’t seem to get nearly anything done.

Thank you for your awesome feedback 🙂

  • This design is spectacular! You most certainly know how to
keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos,
I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.

I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.

    Too cool!
