It turns out that people need their smartphones as GPS devices almost as much as they need them as phones, as Mashable‘s infographic below shows. According to recent research, Google Maps it the most popular smartphone app in the world. Social media apps make up the bulk of this list of the 10 most popular smartphone apps in the world, which is unsurprising. What is surprising, is that Google+ is a more popular app than Twitter, even though it has a couple of hundred million less users.
