What is ADSL?
Asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) is the technology that allows data from the internet to be transferred over copper telephone lines.
ADSL is activated on your existing landline and provides fast, stable and affordable connectivity.
What is Broadband?
Broadband is a term most commonly used to refer to all general forms of fast internet access including satellite, wireless, ADSL, fibre and mobile (3G and LTE).
What is Wi-Fi?
Wi-Fi lets you access your ADSL internet at home or the office via Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as smartphones, laptops and even some television sets. Turn your home into a Wi-Fi zone with a wireless-enabled router (available directly through us) and your ADSL connection.
What does Mbps mean?
Mbps stands for Megabits per second – the speed that data travels on the internet.
In practical terms, 'speed' simply means how fast you can browse and download internet content.
The more speed you have, the faster your files will download. For example, downloading 1 GB will take just over two hours on a 1 Mbps connection but only 4 minutes on a 40 Mbps connection.
What do I need to get connected?
With Webafrica you only need four things:
- A monthly-billed Telkom telephone line
- An ADSL line
- A router, which you can buy from us
- Your ADSL data through us
If you choose to take your ADSL line through us, you will not only enjoy a reduced monthly rate (see below) but our team of experts will also deal with Telkom directly to get it set up and transferred over, and we'll deal with any problems or faults on your behalf!
What is Download Plus?
Download Plus is additional bandwidth on all our Capped Internet products that can be used between midnight and 6am.
All our capped customers automatically get at least 1000 free Download Plus gigs.
Download Plus usage will be deducted between 12am – 6am every day of the week. Data usage between these hours will only come off your anytime gigs if you run out of Download Plus.

Upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
You can upgrade or downgrade your ADSL broadband account at any time simply by logging onto our easy-to-use Customer Zone and choosing your new package. Upgrades are instant; downgrades are activated at month end if initiated before the 20th of that month.
Webafrica doesn't do contracts, so if you want to cancel our service, just give us a calendar month's notice – it's as simple as that! And although we can't speak for the other guys, we have no hidden setup or cancellation fees or any sundry costs.
Does my team size matter?
Yes it does. While the internet speed we provide you with remains the same, the more people you have using your internet, the more your bandwidth is shared between them. And based on their usage, speed will indeed be affected. So for larger teams we recommend our faster ADSL line options (10 Mbps, 20 Mbps & 40 Mbps).
