If you’ve been enjoying our “Free stuff from the web” series of articles, you were probably wondering when we would bring you this one.

While streaming via our paid subscription services is our number one way to consume movies, there are still times when you know you’re going to need to download that flick onto your hard drive, or when you just want to stream something completely different.

Retrovision Classic Movies

This free movie site offers a wide range of movies and TV shows in the public domain. We like it because it allows you to search by genre, and it has a clean cut, simple layout that is easy to navigate. Retrovision allows you to download your movie for later.

The Internet Archive

The internet archive has a surprising number of free movies, music, and books for fans from all genres. It’s like a free virtual library of media. The internet archive is another download site that lets you take your content with you.

Classic Cinema Online

If you love those classic movies you are going to enjoy classic cinema online. This site includes everything from your original Elizabeth Taylor flicks to The Black Fist and the Little Shop of Horrors. Classic cinema online will also allow you to download.

Open Culture

If you’re looking for high-quality content from around the globe then Open Culture is a great site for you to check out. Open Culture is home to over a thousand free movies including Charlie Chaplin, a collection of Oscar Winners and a variety of Indie movies.

Popcornflix

Popcornflix is a streaming site for movies and TV shows with the big difference being that it is free to access. You may not have all the new titles that we love to see on our paid subscriptions, but if you’re looking for something a little different and a little more obscure then this is definitely worth taking a look at!
