Fasterfast Fibre is the best there is, the only real question is “Can you get it”?
Fibre is the fastest and most reliable internet technology available in South Africa. Fibre internet makes use of glass fibres and light technology that allow you to access the internet at extremely high speeds.
If you need internet that is reliable, fast and able to manage multiple devices at once without breaking a sweat, Fibre is the one for you.
Less than you’d think, and in most cases, less than ADSL (if you consider the fact that you don’t need a landline for Fibre).
Webafrica has partnered with multiple underlying infrastructure providers to ensure that we can bring the best possible internet options to as many areas as possible. These are the guys who dig the trenches and lay the cables, while we make sure the network is waiting when they hit the “on” switch.
To find out which of our underlying infrastructure providers are available to you, simply type your address into our Fibre map above.

10 Mbps – 40 Mbps: Enjoy blistering fast internet speeds. This is a good option for media-rich data, streaming HD movies and super-fast downloads. The ideal for an online-active family.
50 Mbps – 100 Mbps: This is effing fast internet! If seamless high speeds are essential to your family or business, then this is the one. Let everyone on your network experience mind-bendingly fast speeds at the same time.
Check out this handy line speed guide on our blog, or find out more on YouTube.
Fibre is much, much faster than ADSL which means that your whole online experience is much faster eg. downloading emails and files, loading websites, streaming videos etc. This is because ADSL runs over your old telephone line which is a copper cable and was never really meant to do anything more than making sure you can phone your granny. Whereas Fibre was developed much more recently with the sole purpose of transmitting data at incredible speeds. Oh, it’s also made out of tiny glass particles so it doesn’t get nicked!
Heck no! Fibre is completely independent of a bundled voice line.
Do I need a different Router / Modem? Webafrica provides you with a free-to-use, fully insured router. So you are sorted. That said, you can use any router that has a LAN/WAN port, BUT it will need technical reconfiguring. We suggest you use ours. Everything will be set up for you and because it’s insured, if anything goes wrong you know you’re covered.
We rely on our various suppliers to provide us with the areas that can get Fibre Internet. While they are rolling out new Fibre Lines every week, not every area is covered yet.
Once you have ordered Fibre on our website, one of our friendly Fibre sales agents will be in contact to confirm you order.
First (and this is important) you need to be really, really nice to us.
Then check your address in the search box above.
If Fibre is available in your area, place an order. We’ll organise all the boring stuff, send you some cool stuff (your free-to-use router) and bada-bing, bada-bang, you’re online!
For sure! We don’t do contracts, remember?
So you can do any of the above at any time.
Upgrades are effective within 3 days of placing your upgrade request.
Downgrades are effective on the 1st of the new month (if you downgrade before the 20th, otherwise it will only be effective the next month)
To Cancel – we need just one calendar month’s notice.
Because we rely on external infrastructure providers to connect you, we can’t give a hard and fast timeframe. If you scroll up on this page you will see that we publish a live average wait time on each infrastructure providers’ info block. We hope this helps.
If you’re anything like us, you will be actively streaming most of your music, movies and series from now on. We recommend a 10Mbps (or higher) line to enjoy the likes of Netflix, Showmax, Amazon Prime and DSTV NOW without annoying buffering or lag times.
There are some amazing streaming services which will work beautifully on your Fibre line. Some of the tried and tested (and loved) options include Netflix, Showmax, Amazon Prime, Google Play Movies, DSTV Now, and iTunes Movies, to name a few.
If it’s music you’re after take a look at Spotify, iTunes, Google Play Music, Deezer, and even YouTube playlists. We also enjoy 8tracks, although some of the content will ask you to play through YouTube to get around licensing issues.
You’ll be happy to know that Webafrica Fibre internet is available in all the provinces of South Africa, including: Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, Northern Cape, And the wonderful Western Cape.
When you sign up for any of our packages, we will give you 30 minutes of FREE VoIP calls per month! You can use it to call anyone, anytime, on any network in South Africa or you can make international calls at ridiculously low rates. You can read all about our Webafrica Voice products and call rates on our VoIP page.
All our data packages are month-to-month, so you only need to give one calendar month’s notice in order to cancel your service.
Free-to-Use Routers are exactly that - free to use for as long as you are with Webafrica and using the relevant service. If you cancel your service you will be billed for your router, or you may return it to us in its original condition, in its original packaging.
Should you cancel your service (or fall into a suspended state for longer than 30 days) within the first 12 months of activation we will clawback any installation and/or connection fees which were subsidised by Webafrica when you signed up.
Yes, in most cases Fibre is cheaper than ADSL. This is because with Fibre, you can drop the additional (and let’s face it, basically redundant) voice landline rental. Which means you don’t pay R201 a month for a voice line that you rarely use. Webafrica also give you 30 minutes/month of voice calls to use over our VoIP system, and you can port your existing landline phone number to our VoIP system if you like.
Take a look at our ADSL vs Fibre price comparisons above.
Yes, you most certainly do. We provide you with a premium, fully-insured router with the LTE SIM & router packages. If you choose the LTE SIM-Only package and choose to use your own router, please note that we will only be able to provide technical support for the routers we supply.
On Openserve, we offer two uncapped categories: Uncapped and Uncapped Premium. Uncapped packages carry a FUP threshold while Uncapped Premium packages have no threshold.
Please note: We only apply our FUP on our Uncapped packages on the Openserve infrastructure. No other providers have a FUP threshold.
All of our data packages are month-to-month, so you need only give one calendar month’s notice should you wish to cancel.
If you do choose to cancel, or if your account falls into a suspended state for longer than 30 days, your free-to-use router will be billed to you, or you may choose to return it to us at your own expense. Please ensure that the LAN cable and anything else which came in the router box is returned or these items will be billed to your account.
Should you cancel your service within 12 month’s of activation (or fall into a suspended state for longer than 30 days) you will be liable for any installation and / or connection fees which Webafrica initially subsidised on your behalf. These will be clawed back on your account.
